Don't let yourself go.
I was looking at photos of some old frens on Facebook.
And what a shocker... we've all grown so... what's that word again?!! OLD!
It's true, and i do hate to admit it, and worse, see the evidence so clearly.
I remember these frens as we were in our younger, sportier, carefree days.
With long limbs, dimple-free skin and happy, effervescent eyes.
Why does everyone look so... tired now?
Tired, dragged down, knowing eyes.
It's really sad.
And a lot of frens have put on weight too.
I had this fren who was sooo gorgeous...but now succumbing to work overload,
has piled on some pounds and for some reasons, just lost her glow and vivacious self.
She used to be so funny and hip, as we trawled the clubs together.
But now, she just looks tired and ... really old. Like 35?
And i saw some pics of an old guy fren... i had a shock.
He lost weight and now looks 40, if i didn't know any better.
Is work killing all of us?
We hardly talk about it, but it is so easy to fall prety to ageing.
I'm all for ageing gracefully + naturally.... but not for ageing faster than nature intended!
We don't look like a bunch of still-young 27-year-olds, we look like we're on the brink of 35.
And worse, probably ready to live that kinda life!
What is going on??!!!
It is so easy and almost natural to let go of ourselves.
I've entertained that thought endless times.
In fact, it takes effort just to go out for coffee with frens.
Age is such a creepy thing -- it's just impossible to hide.
It's in our spirit, our faces, our clothes, our aura...
There's no 1 factor that says you are old, more like a combination of all you show externally.
And only a fool will think appearances don't matter.
On the contrary, it probably matters more now than at any other time in history!
And i hate to say it - but those who work out really look better than those who don't.
I don't mean the body... but the face/eyes.
For some reason, they just look more wholesome, energetic and lively.
I can't put a pulse on it either, it's just unfair isn't it?
I've got this super-athletic fren whom i don't really like or click with.
But to be fair to her, she has defied ageing so far.
She looks as she did in uni.... and i'm putting it down to her daily workouts.
So...let's not be dragged down by work too much.
Always remember your life, family, frens and all else that's MORE important.
Work/Money is not all there is... it's too sad to even fathom such a life.
And we've only ONE FACE & BODY to face the world with.
Take care of it, don't neglect it beyond repair.
Don't put on more weight than you can ever lose.
Don't lose more weight and turn skeletal - that's spooky.
Don't let yourself go.
