preparation!

I still shop.
Just differently.

Like today, it's gonna be a lovely peaceful day of word-shopping.
That's a major day in the bookshop with books and magazines.
The loveliest kind of shopping I've done since I was eight.

Tomorrow, there's grocery shopping.
Cos me am gonna be a bonafide chef on V-day.
For the record, I'm making (don't laugh) --

1. Sizzling Mongolian Lamb (which may be replaced with chicken)

2. Shredded Chicken & Bean Sprouts

3. Stir Fried Vegetables Assortment

4. Steamboat Soup (my mama's recipe)

These are probably dishes anyone has eaten ten dozen times.
But they come with such proper-sounding names cos i'm stealing every pointer straight from the recipe book.
I hope I don't get cheated.
The instructions better be foolproof for bums like me.
I hope everyth turns out v edible.
I hope terence won't run to the hawkers' downstairs for seconds cos its too awful.

It's all quite exciting.

I'm gonna be super busy.
Still gotta run to that party shop at Holland V to get those balloons and pink crap to doll up the house.
Then tomorrow, I need to fix up the rice cooker.
urghhh......I don't know how to use the rice cooker!
Maybe I'll just buy plain rice from the hawkers! Idea!!!

Quite fun.
I think frankly, I'm doing so much cos i'm just bored.
Like I was telling a fren....
Only when I'm pregnant do I realise how shallow my life was.
It simply revolved around shopping.
Take that element away and I have hours and hours with absolutely nothing to do.
I really do spend a significant proportion of my waking hours traipsing the malls.
Sad rite?

how it could be

I really feel for my sister-in-law Lucia.
She seems more and more unhappy here, and cracks in her marriage are starting to show.
Looking at Nic, her husband, my brother-in-law....
I really feel her pain.
I've seen Nic with his ex-girlfren, and he was mega-different.
That girl was gorgeous, a model, an exact real-life replica of a pretty doll, very demanding and petty.
Perhaps like a lot of Singaporean girls.
But Nic was totally under her spell.
For the entire 1.5 years they were together, they seemed inseparable.
I thot they'd never break up even tho their relationship was stormy.
It was those fiery, passionate relationships that wasn't meant to last long.
But perhaps both were too young then. That girl was only 21.

Lucia is the complete opposite of her.
She's buxomy and simply quite angelic.
The best a wife can be -- she cleans the whole house, does everything for him.
Has no other friends or family here. I'm probably her best friend in Singapore.
And within half a year of their marriage, he doesn't seem so enthralled anymore.

Men are strange creatures.
Treat them nice, and they take you for granted.
Lead them on a leash, be the bitch, and they come barking.
I simply don't comprehend.
Do nice girls always have to finish last?

Marriage paris-style

"French women have a real culture of coquetry, how to seduce, how to please and be attentive. The secret of a happy marriage is always thinking that every day has to be passionate and beautiful and not to take for granted anything - never, never, never."

V-Day spells

Terence has been like a dream come very real.
I have thus decided to....
Do something for him on V-day.

Yes, its such a cliche.
Yes, V-day is overrated.
Yes, i'm not being myself to "celebrate" it.
Yes, i'm bucking my habit of just letting the day pass quietly, insignificantly.

But i jus wanna have an excuse to have fun.
To make him feel really really appreciated and loved.
To doll up the house!
To make it a lil more lovey-dovey, it being so boringly contemporary, safe and 'proper'
Wanna add some pinkness around the house, do a lil fluff and puff and girlie shite.
We all need some cheeseball romance now and then rite?

In any case,
I've never done anything of this sort for him before.
Never gone out of my way to show my love
Never done anything remotely troublesome or industrious.
Never attempted to be cheesy and sweet.
I've always been too darn pragmatic, real and lazy to bother with all of these.
So this 14 Feb shall be D-Day!

What should i get?
What should i do?
What do i need?
Food? Drinks? Settings? Balloons? Candles?
Turn my house into a mini boudoir? Love-shack? Labyrinth?
I need ideas!
It's all like a mini-project and is quite thrilling actually.

Bakerz Inn has some wonderful cakes themed by movie PG codes.
I'm definitely ordering one of these teeny wonders!
There's the NC16, M18 and R21. Very cute.
And in perfect super mini-sizes!
