rounding up

My new acquisitions this week:

- Sony Ericsson W810i
- Lite pink Rabeanco soft leather bag
- My wedding photos
- A new addiction to Cosmopolitan magazine

Can't believe my wedding pics are out.
Ok, not as horrid as I imagined.
The pasty-three-inch makeup actually turned out looking human-like.
Anyway, so much for all the "package" bullshit.
We still ended up paying nearly $1000 for them.
Seriously, daylight robbery!!!!
I am quite incensed just talking abt it.

Sigh.
My poor baby just keeps paying and paying and paying for all these nonsense.
We didn't even add any photos, sticking to our pathetic 36 pictures.
The album alone costs $580! And the wall plaque glass thingy another $200.
It's just insane!

My advice: Don't ever book a wedding studio package.
Like I was telling my Reuters frens that day,
it's the single regret of my wedding.
I should have just got one of them to shoot for me.
And rented some gown and engaged a freelance makeup artist myself.
I'm sure it won't cost $6000++ for these paltry frivolous things.

Tomorrow, Bangkok beckons!
I reaaaally need a holiday!
I need to get on an airplane and just get outta tis place.
See new things (ok, BKK is not exactly 'new'), live differently...plant myself in another world for a few days.
It's just too mundane here.
We're waaay too young to live like this.
Gosh, I am becoming like my parents.
Work, dinner, tv, sleep.
Speaking of which, I haven't seen them much lately at all.

Alot of things have been happening at Terence's place.
My sister-in-law, the 23-year-old Russian wife, has had an abortion this week.
She was devastated.
The embryo didn't develop and there wasn't a heartbeat.
Which kinda meant there wasn't actually a life in there.
But nonetheless, she was pregnant and even had a growing belly.
Except her baby did not develop.
Prior to that, she had been bleeding almost daily.
Tis really is the saddest news.
She was so excited and overjoyed to have a kid.

September hasn't been a great month.
Let's hope October does better for me, you and all whom we love.

Blessed be.

On/Off

I found out the reason for my absolute disgusting lethargy, laziness and pig-like behaviour last week.
It was hormonal, to say the least haha.
I was such an absolute pig.
No interest in fashion, shopping, exercising or anyth constructive.
Just eat, sleep, go to work, sleep, slouch around...do nothing and self-destruct.

I didn't even had the mood to hit town.
Tat's serious.

Anyway, today I am fine.
Finally.
Met some frens for dinner in town.
Almost forgot how much I loved the place.
Love shopping, love clothes, love music, love people, love being out and free and young.
Love movies, love spending time with pp i love.
So...

More shopping tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Moss for Tops

Can this be true?
Kate Moss is gonna collaborate with Topshop.

My absolute 2 fave fashion icons in tandem.
Incredible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

On a very separate note.

Things are sort of sour lately.
Nothing fun/uplifting/happy to blog about.
Life's in the pits.

This Side of Paradise

Why is it that the road of marriage, stability and domesticity seems utterly opposite and distinct from the one of adventure, opportunities and fun?

A Sneak Preview..........

The photoshoot was bittersweet.
Bitter = the makeup, posing, uncomfortable gowns, awkwardness, makeup, fake eyelashes, foundation, eyeliner, hairsprays.... did I mention the makeup?

Sweet = once we headed for outdoor location shoots, which immediately felt less fake and more free. We had 3 locations, all of which were beautiful. The photographer really know his photo spots well... 2 of the locations were places I never heard of. And not even tat far away from town. Amazing.

And by 630pm, we were done.
It sucked from 11am-4pm.
Once we were out of the studio, it was all good and easy and breezy.
Give me the great outdoors over a horrid air-conditioned studio anyday.

Then, at home....
Removing the makeup alone took 3 rounds.
Removing the crap in the hair took 2 rounds.
Pls.....
Never again!!!!!!!

More Pix!

A stupid shot just cos I liked the white top I was wearing tat day.

@ Billy Bombers, Marina Square
for Walter's 25th birthday

Lounge, Mandarin hotel
For such a swanky spot, we sure are casual in our tees n jumpers.
Even the waitresses were donned in sleek gold cheongsams with slits up to there!
p/s: The music was horrible.

With mich, who is soooo paranoid of unflattering bad shots.
The vainpot has approved this shot though.

My husband @ Bintan.
On his 29th birthday.

Singapore's Boutique Scene

Cred must go to all these local independent retailers.
Our retail (fashion!) scene has never been so hip and alive.
All these multi-brand one-shop boutique sources the best from abroad and imports selectively.
You get the London homegrown street-cred, the Aussie stronghold and the indie America.

Something tells me it has a lot to do with the brain-drain phenomenon,
Where our hip and rich study abroad and bring their shopping habits back to SG.
After all, I once thought I couldn't live without Sportsgirl, Witchery, Jeans West, Portmans & Sass & Bide.
Leave Spain with its Mango & Zara to conglomos like RSH.
I'm pretty sure fashion will get into the mainstream one day.
Even my fave brand Ella Moss is available!

Here are a few:
Eclecticism @ Mandarin Hotel gallery (best of London style)

Actually @ Seah Street (cult denim)

Trixilini @ Forum Mall

Tribeca @ Mandarin Hotel Gallery

Felt @ Stamford Court
- Stocks Hansel (mega local talent hitherto only avail in Sydney/Melb, dun ask me y) and several great Aussie designers. Known for their beautiful, though expensive, dresses.

Inez @ Paragon
The only FJ Benjamin store that actually carries apparel not loud, tacky or flash.
Stocks selected designers like Marc, Chloe etc.

Antipodean @ Holland Village
I haven't actually stepped in yet.
But it's known to be expensive. Anyway, if anyone is looking for Aussie raves like Camilla & Marc, Morrison, One Teaspoon, it's mostly here. Less chi-chi than Felt.

Venue @ Palais Renaissance & Club Street
Stocks nuala, the beautiful ethereal collection by Christy Turlington, McQueen, Puma limited editions and other cool street/underground/quasi-luxe-leisure-sporty stuff.

Quintessential @ Mandarin Hotel gallery
Bags, bags and bags.

Met an ex-classmate for lunch yesterday.
It's funny how I've known him for 10 years but this is the first time we had lunch tog.

He's a really sweet and nice chap.
And it was a nice time with char siew and roasted duck rice.
He'd gotten more chivalrous and humorous and easy-going than when we were younger.

It was a good time at a coffeeshop.
The kind of simple moments i love.

7 Days

Yes, 7 more days to my photoshoot.
My wedding photoshoot, that is.
Gosh, I am excited.

For one day, I actually have a photographer following me and my husband around.
As attempt cheeseeey poses, grapple with incredibly uncomfortable clothes, preen to not resemble our usual hideous selves and then have all flaws and flab blown up on every Polaroid for all to gawk later.
What a thrill.

But seriously,
I am having the jitters.
So bad that I took a day off work today.
To do wat?
I dunno.
Somehow, buying clothes and hitting town calms my nerves v effectively.

To not resemble my usual self, I need to:
- touch up hair roots
- manicure, pedicure
- get decent shoes
- shape my brows and thread my face
- self-facial every nite for one intensive wk
- lose 5 kg in one week

Terence, on the other hand,
simply needs to turn up punctually on tat day.
Life is really not fair.

Asian Spotlight

Ok, I've always been keeping track of the ang moh fashion scene.
Lets look at the Asian style mart for a change.
Unfortunately, in Asia,
We only produce babes.
Not fashion chameleons.
No one really stands out for their appreciation of fashion....
They just look devastatingly good.
Like these 3.

Looks wise, Shu Qi wins hands down.
But I think Jolin Tsai is more of a fashionista.
Whatever the naysayers might say, she does look amazing.
Just check out how ridiculous she makes Rainie Yang looks in that pic on right.

Not sure about the claims of plastic surgery, breast enhancements etc etc.
No one said looking good comes easy anyway.
I'm sure the Hollywood crowd are equally Botox-ed and lipo-sucked to their toes as well.

All in the Family

Daughter of Isabella Rossellini, Elletra.
Who has just nailed a Lancome contract, taking over her mother's exclusive14-yr reign.
It really is in the genes, ain't it?
